Governed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation commercial pesticide applicators must earn credits to ensure prompt renewal of their pesticide license. They earn these credits by attending NYSDEC approved educational classes throughout the five year life cycle of their certification. Most quality driven pest control companies in New York State offer ongoing training that is weaved into the state mandated sessions. New York State offers separate license categories to ensure specific training is received for each type of application.
New York State is one of the most challenging areas to perform effective Termite Control. Drilling and treating cinder block walls is illegal which limits the ability to employ liquid termiticides effectively. Many commercial liquid products, available in other states, are not permitted for use in New York State. Baiting technology options seem to be the best form of Termite extermination in New York State. Sentricon, by Dow Agrosciences, offers a baiting program and is a recent recipient of the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge. Whitmire Microgen offers a baiting system called Advance. Both have stellar reputations and fit into the system NYSDEC has mandated.
New York State has neighbor notification laws that require just that. If properties are going to be treated with certain products human health considerations are involved and neighbors must be provided this information. Public and Private schools are also considered very sensitive areas and product usage is limited and some type of notification is required.
