The wild violet weed is a winter perennial that can be seen in the spring months. The weed is green with leaves shaped as hearts that will occasionally curl up. They will grow from 2 to 5” tall. Purple, blue, or white flowers will appear on the stem as the weed develops. Wild violets like to grow in gardens and lawns. When the weed is in its early stages, it will grow in shade. Once the weed develops, it will take over ground in the sun. When the weed reaches a lawn it is hard to control because it spreads seeds and rhizomes when reproducing.
