Information on Millipedes & How They Can Affect Your NY, NJ or CT Property
1/16″ to 4 1/2″ long and usually black or brown. They have a worm-like appearance and usually 30-90 legs. They also have band-like ridges on their body.
They are found outdoors in high-moisture areas, wood and leaf piles, and grass clipping piles.
How do they affect me?
They are a nuisance pest, however, because of their size, they can be intimidating.
What should I do?
It is key to eliminate the moisture source. Ensure leaf piles and grass clippings are removed from your yard. Keeping your grass mowed and watering your lawn in the morning, to allow your grass to dry fast, will prevent moisture during the evening hours. Millipedes are covered under our Home Pest Prevention program.
